I don't have QuickBooks, how can I test All Orders?

Applies to All Orders 6.1.27 or Earlier

Begining with version 6.1.29 you can run All Orders completely stand-alone. During the 'New Company' wizard simply check 'I do not want to link All Orders to QuickBooks'.

If you using earlier versions this article describes how you can test All Orders without having QuickBooks.

Steps

  1. Install the All Orders Client and Server,  you can get a link to download the set up from our trial downloads page;

  2. On the computer on which you installed the server, create a folder (e.g. C:\AOTestData)

  3. Download the test file then extract  then .MDF into the new folder. There are two test files as follows;

    - SAMPLE_MANUFACTURINGBUSINESS has sample customer, vendors and items.

    - NCBase_No_QB is a blank file that is designed to operate as a stand alone solution.

  4. Launch All Orders from the desktop icon, when you see the Welcome box,  click Cancel.

  5. From the main menu select File > Maintain

  6. Click the Advance Tab

  7. Click the 'Server Setting' button,

  8. Click on the first 'Browse' button and you will see the dialog box that says Select NumberCruncher Data File.  Where it says 'Save In' select the folder created in #2 above.  Where it says 'File Name' type in YOUR COMPANY NAME. Then press 'Save' which will bring you back to 'Server Setting'.

  9. Click on the second 'Browse' button and you will see the dialog box that says Select Open Database File.  Where it says 'Save In' select the folder created in #2 above.  Using your mouse double click on the file that says SAMPLE_MANUFACTURINGBUSINESS.mdf or NCBase_No_QB.MDF which will bring you back to 'Server Setting'.

  10. Under username enter 'sa' (without the single quotes) and for the password enter 'sysadmin' is using MSDE SQL Server 2000 and 'sysadmin1' if using SQL Express 2005.

  11. Click 'Save', after a few moments you will see a dialog box that says 'The file is not attached to the server. Attach Now'. Click Yes.
