Error Message - duplicate values in the index

Error Message - duplicate values in the index

Work Orders 1.X

Description:

The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again. Code: -2147467259.

Possible Cause 1:

Document Number (PO, SO, WO, Adjustment etc) already used

Resolution 1:

Modify the Document Number in Document Number Preferences. Increment it by one

Possible Cause 2:

You have renamed an account, vendor, customer or item to a name that was previously deleted in QuickBooks.

Resolution 2:

If you know which record you have recently renamed, edit the record (change the name slightly) and run NumberCruncher again. Otherwise please do the following:

  1. Identify the list where the duplicate occurred. From NumberCruncher observe the record number and list type to the right of the QB button on the toolbar;

  2. Within QuickBooks do Utilities - Export - and select and save the affected list. This action will create an IIF file which you can open within Excel;

  3. Open the IIF file within Excel and delete first few rows until you get to the row with record headings (e.g. NAME, REF, TIMESTAMP)

  4. Highlight the TIMESTAMP cell (put you mouse in that cell) and do Data - Sort and pick Descending.

  5. The list is now sorted, with the most recently modified or created record at the top.

  6. From within QuickBooks, edit the name of the items one by one and run NumberCruncher. Do this until you do not get the error.

It is recommended that you do not delete records, rather make them inactive.
